Alerts operator when and how long to regenerate the diesel particulate filter

The Soot AlertTM monitor was designed to work with CRT® systems installed on emergency back-up diesel generators to treat diesel engine emissions. Normally, these engines are not needed for power generation and are only exercised periodically at low load, however, diesel particulate filters are required to comply with environmental regulations.  At low loads, exhaust temperatures may be insufficient for passive regeneration of the diesel particulate filter and after prolonged operation soot can accumulate in the filter increasing the backpressure on the engine.

The Soot Alert monitor is designed to alert the operator when diesel particulate filter regeneration is required. And once it has begun, the Soot Alert monitor indicates when regeneration is complete.  Of course, the operator may also opt to replace, rather than regenerate the filter.
