Johnson Matthey manufactures durable SINOx® plate SCR catalyst for high NOx reduction in high-dust applications. Plate SCR catalyst consists of a catalytically active materials rolled onto stainless steel mesh plates. The plates are crimped and stacked into sturdy element frames which are then installed in steel modules. This construction results in a catalyst with very high mechanical strength and resistance to the abrasive dusts that are found in some exhaust streams.

The unique plate design allows the catalyst to be fabricated with a wide range of pitch sizes. The pitch is the distance between the midpoints of adjacent plates. Larger pitch minimizes plugging so that plate SCR catalyst is especially suited to applications with high dust or ash, including power generation from combustion of coal, biomass incineration, high-dust industrial processes such as cement manufacturing and wood-fired boilers. The catalytic materials coated on the plates can also be formulated to minimize the oxidation of SO2 to SO3.
